Secondary education in the French system is divided into two cycles: Collège (from 6th grade to 10th grade) and Lycée (from 11th grade to 12th grade), constituting a key stage in students’ educational journey, during which they are prepared for higher education and professional life.
Middle School
Collège marks the transition to secondary education and consists of four levels: 6th, 7th, and 8th grade, and 1st year of high school (6ème, 5ème, 4ème, and 3ème). The goal is to consolidate what students learned in elementary school and deepen their knowledge within a more structured framework.
At the end of 1st year of high school (3ème), students take the National Brevet Diploma (DNB), which certifies their skills and knowledge through written and oral exams covering various subjects, such as French, mathematics, history, and geography.
High School
The Lycée prepares students to earn the The Baccalauréat and the International French Baccalaureate (BFI), which opens the door to higher education around the world. It is divided into three levels: 10th, 11th, and 12th grades (Seconde, Première, and Terminale).
11th grade (Seconde) is an exploratory course that allows students to learn about different disciplines before choosing a major.
The 11th and 12th grades (Première and Terminale) are organized around a core curriculum and specializations chosen by the student, with guidance from their teachers and the school counselor, based on their interests and career plans. The various specializations allow students to tailor their academic path to their interests and aspirations. These specializations include mathematics, physics, and chemistry; economic and social sciences (SES); history, geography, geopolitics, and political science (HGGSP); life and earth sciences (SVT); and humanities and philosophy (HLP, LLCER).
At our school, high school students follow the curricula of the French National Education System and the Chilean Ministry of Education in a multicultural and challenging environment that provides them with a high-level education to continue their studies in Chile, France, or any other country where they choose to study.
